Lakshmi 8 limbed octopus girl leaves hospital 38 days after the surgery to remove her extra limbs.

After a marathon surgery that took involving more than 30 doctors, Lakshmi was said to be making good progress. Just yesterday, over one month later, she was discharged from hospital with the hope that she will be fully mobile in the near future.

The operation took place on 7th of December at the Sparsh hospital in Bangalore. The 30 surgeons worked for 24 hours to remove the extra limbs, transplant a kidney from the twin and reconstruct Lakshmi’s pelvic area.Chief surgeon Dr. Sharan Patil, told The Associated Press.

“Lakshmi is fine and stable. She should face no problem in walking.”

Shortly after the operation, the Press Trust of India news agency quoted Patil as saying.

“Lakshmi, who never turned (over) earlier, started turning after the surgery. She was even able to stand for 10 minutes on the bed holding the window grill, which is remarkable,”

Lakshmi’s parents said they were taking her back to their rural village in eastern Bihar state where she had been revered by some as an incarnation of the four-armed Hindu goddess she was named after.
