Child Briefly Resurrected During Own Funeral

A two-year-old toddler sits up during his own funeral to ask for water…

A two year-old toddler who was pronounced dead, sat up briefly on his coffin during his funeral and asked his father for a drink of water before lying back lifeless once again, according to Brazilian news sources.

Kelvin Santos, 2, was declared deceased after he stopped breathing due to complications from bronchial pneumonia at Aberlardo Santos Hospital, Belem, Brazil.

One of Brazil’s leading news networks, SBT, reported that the child was placed in airtight body bag for three hours before being placed in an open casket for the wake later the same day.

During the ceremony the infant ‘appeared to move’ then suddenly sat up and clearly asked for glass of water before lying back down in the coffin. The family immediately rushed to the casket but couldn’t revive him; the body was then taken back to the hospital where the boy was once again pronounced dead.

Antonio Santos, the boy’s father told UK reports:

“Dead people don’t just wake up and talk. I’m determined to find out the truth.” [Daily Mail]

Despite the almost unbelievable truth of the story, this isn’t the time first such incidents have occurred. However a case earlier this year had a much happier ending.

Analia Bouter, and Argentinian mother from Resistencia, fell to her knees in shock after finding her baby daughter alive in her coffin 12 hours after being declared deceased. Her three month premature baby was pronounced stillborn, put in a coffin and sent to a morgue.

When the parents open the coffin to say their final goodbyes, they found their baby trembling, but alive.

The family is now suing the hospital in Resistencia for malpractice.
