No matter what New Years resolution you made earlier this month, there is one thing that most adults will almost certainly want to do – look ten years younger.

Fortunately there are ways you can spruce up your image and shed some years off your appearance.

Ditch The Gray

Hair is a major give away to your age, especially if its gray. Although it’s not always an accurate indication, most people assume that those with gray hair are, well, ‘old’.

Having your dyed at the salon or barber can be costly, but there’s no reason why you can do it yourself. Just be careful to follow the instructions, and try not to go from bright white to dark black, as this may make you seem younger to strangers, but will look ridiculous to all the people you know.

Tackle The Bald

For men, a simple solution is to shave all your hair off. Its a sure fire way to eliminate embarrassing balding spots. But for women, the situation is a little more tricky – unless you don’t mind going totally bald! Which I’m sure, some men won’t want to do either.

Instead you do have the option to undergo hair transplant surgery – a tried and tested method that implants hairs directly into the follicles on the head. Of course, cosmetic surgery costs, but if hair-loss is your biggest confidence killer, it always an effective treatment.

Keep Your Face Looking Smooth

A smooth complex reminds us of youth, so its important for men to stay clean shaven if they want to look younger. For women, there are literally hundreds of products that do a good job in revitalizing the complexion, and if you don’t mind going ‘under the knife’ there are several cosmetic surgery procedures that can help both sexes look many years younger.

Another tip is to stop smoking. The action of smoking causes the wrinkles in your face to become more prominent. Smoking also reduce your blood flow disturbing the vital flow of blood all over the body and thus having affect on you over appearance.

Hit The Gym

As we age our skin begins to sag. Some people resort to plastic surgery to correct their appearance, but if you’re willing to adhere to an effective exercise routine, you may find that you don’t need surgery at all.
By exercising the whole body, you can help trim off the fat and tighten skin in the areas that become unsightly with old age.

Ditch The Glasses

Glasses can add a unique touch to ones appearance, but breaking them out to read the menu or news paper never comes across as ‘youthful’. With modern technology there are contacts lenses out there to suit everyone’s eyesight, and the prices have dropped considerably over the last decade.

Revitalize Your Wardrobe

As you age, its natural to be boggled at the fashions of a new generation, but its important to try and learn something from them – the clothes you wear are another dead giveaway as to your real age.

Lucky there are some simple things you can keep in mind to help your dress more youthful. Consider the length of your skirts, shorts and pants. Think about the colors or patterns and how you coordinate them. Use the youth as an influence, but go for something that is still your style.

Watch Your Diet

We’ve all heard the expression, “You are what you eat.” But this is also true for your age, “you are as old as you eat.” Stay away from fatty foods and stick to foods that are high in antioxidants. Antioxidants help combat the free radicals in our body that break down our tissues and causing us to age.

Also, simple carbohydrates cause you to retain water, leaving you bloated not toned. Avoid them.

Beware Of The Sun

Many of us love to sunbathe when both whether and time permit. But the sun can cause your skin to appear older by enhancing those wrinkles and brown spots, and also increase your risk of skin cancer. If you are out in the sun make sure you protect yourself with sunscreen that clocks out UV rays and replenishes your skin with antioxidants.

Sleep Properly

Studies have shown that growing teens need around 9 hours of sleep a night to help the body and brain regenerate. But for a grown adult, you’ll probably need a bit less. It’s important to figure out how long your sleep stages are, and make sure you wake up in the correct stage.
