Sex can improve your overall health, helping you to stay young fit and healthy…

Maintaining an active sex life can hold numerous benefits towards your health. Not only is the experience a pleasurable one, sex can help you lose weight, boost you bodies defenses, relieve aches and pains, and keep you fit and healthy.

So add sex to your exercise routine and help battle off the coming years of inevitable aging.

5 Ways Sex Benefits Your Health:

5 Reasons Why Sex Can Imrove Your Health

1. Burn Calories

The expression ‘getting busy’ maybe rather cliche, but when you think about it, that is exactly what you are doing. When you have sex, you are putting to work your bodies cardiovascular functions, exercising and stretching your muscles, all whilst stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain.

30 minutes of sex can burn around 90 calories, and although that may not sound impressive, at an average of three times a week, this adds up to 5 pounds a year.

2. Boost Immune System

Medical studies conducted in the recent years are helping researchers understand how sexual health affects our overall well being.

Psychologists have long stressed the direct link between our emotional and mental health , now they say sex plays a major part too.

“We know that people who enjoy a regular, satisfying sex life (i.e. regular orgasms) are less stressed, less depressed and generally more well physically, mentally and emotionally,” says Wendy Strgar, loveologist and CEO of Good Clean Love.

Another Dr. Paul Pearsall, director of Behavioral Medicine at Detroit’s Beaumont Hospital, concludes that many of his patients had experienced sexual dissatisfaction prior to a heart attack. He also claims that sexual contentment leads to reduced discomfort from arthritis and less severe headaches in both genders.

3. Pain Relief

A little known fact about sex is the natural pain relief effects it has on our body. During an orgasm the body release a chemical known as oxytocin. Working in conjunction with other endorphins these chemicals have a powerful pain relieving effect on the body.

In his book, How to Treat Arthritis, rheumatologist Carter V. Multz asserts that sex can reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation associated with arthritis, headaches and menstrual cramps.

4. Anti Aging

There are many chemicals that are released into the bloodstream during sex, one of them is testosterone. As we age, our testosterone levels decrease, making sex a great activity to build your reserves back up.

According to a study by Dr. David Weeks, a clinical neuropsychologist at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in Scotland and co-author of Superyoung, men and women who reported having sex an average of four times per week looked approximately 10 years younger than they really were.

5. Anti Depressant

Most chemical antidepressant medications, like Zoloft, work by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, prompting new neurons to grown. Researchers believe that sex helps the brain produce serotonin naturally.

Jennifer Bass, the head of information services at the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction in Bloomington, Ind.:

“The release from orgasm does much to calm people. It helps with sleep, and that is whether we talk about solo sex or sex with a partner,”
