Cunard's largest cruise liner visits Thailand.....
Earlier this year, on March 12th, Thailand warmly welcomed Queen Mary 2, as she made her maiden call to the country at the Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi Province.
Queen Mary is the largest cruise liner of the Cunard Line, and she is the biggest ship to arrive at Thailand’s eastern deep sea port.
Weighing in at 151,400 tons, with a capacity of carrying 2,600 passengers and 1,300 crew members, Queen Mary 2 was the largest ship in the world when she first debuted in 2004. Costing over 800 million US dollars to build, Queen Mary 2 was hailed as the true heir of timeless elegance and legacy of the “Great Cunard Liners of Legend”.
The cruise liner boasts all modern luxuries including the only Canyon Ranch Spa Club on the sea, a Cultural Enrichment Programme led by distinguished experts, a planetarium, swimming pools, theaters, shops, bars, restaurants etc, and each cabin is equipped with the Internet and computer system to advise passengers of daily on-board attractions and menus.
Despite the political unrest in Thailand’s capital Bangkok, Queen Mary 2′s visit reaffirms Thailand’s credibility as a world-renowned tourist destination. Queen Mary’s visit was followed by another great Cunard liner, Queen Victoria.
Thailand’s is a country that boasts natural beauty and a great variety of tourist attractions, rich history, culture and traditions, friendly yet professional hospitality and services, not forgetting famous cuisine.
Cunard has also released its World Cruise itinerary for 2010, which includes Queen Mary 2′s calls at two ports in Thailand, in Laem Chabang and Phuket, and Queen Victoria’s calls at three ports in Thailand, in Laem Chabang, Phuket and Samui.
