How Make Your Own Pain Relief Ointment

Many people turn to pain relief ointments to help manage aches, sprains, and sore muscles but not many make their own, and surprisingly it’s extremely easy to do so with a few simple ingredients you can find in stores.

The homemade concoction cleverly devised by Jilly over at OneGoodThingByJillie, to help her son deal with the pain of a skeletal disorder without taking too many too much medication.

The mixture itself may not have scientific backup to prove its medicinal properties, but each the essential oils/crystals have a long history of use in medicine, and the coconut oil together with the beeswax makes the mixture easy to massage into the skin.

Home Remedy For Pain Relief Ointment

To make your own pain relief cream you’ll need:

  • ½ a cup of coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons of beeswax
  • 2 teaspoons of camphor crystals or 5 drops of camphor oil
  • 2 teaspoons of menthol crystals or 5 drops of peppermint oil
  • 5 drops of eucalyptus oil

Gently melt the coconut oil and beeswax together, allow the mixture to cool. Add the remaining ingredients.

The mixture will set almost solid, but when applied to skin body heat will quickly cause the ointment to liquefy.

An alternative and easier method to make a similar ointment is to add the three essential oils to a pot a of vitamin E cream.
