ive similar experience although not as severe as her's. about 2 months ago, i had a fever so i took 1 paracetamol but with a different brand since i ran out of supply with the brand i often use. i did not think i could be allergic to it since it is still paracetamol (i have known allergies to mefenamic and ibuprofen). just seconds after popping the tablet, i felt my scalp started to itch and my eyes also. then i looked like i had soreyes because my eyes were really red and swollen i could barely see. my whole face bloated and was red all over. i couldnt bare to look myself in the mirror because it was a very unpleasant sight. i didnt suspect it was paracetamol that's causing the allergic reaction since ive been using it all the time and ive never had any allergic reaction to it before. it was the same when i had my first allergic reaction to mefenamic and ibuprofen. but i knew i didnt take any of those so it could be the paracetamol that's causing it.

i went to the ER and i was questioned what medication i took and the attending physician and the nurses present were very surprised when i said i might have been allergic to paracetamol. the doctor said it's a very rare occurence that someone would be allergic to paracetamol and said it was his first time to have ever encountered one in my case.

i was in the hospital for 5 days until the swelling and all the itching subsided. i was very worried what medicine to take for my migraine since i can only take paracetamol for that. so when the first sign of migraine attack set in, i took the chance of taking paracetamol, this time, the same brand i was used to. luckily, it didnt have any reaction at all and i was fine minutes after.

it's surprising that although medicines have the same generic composition, still, there could be some variations with some brands. im not sure if im right about this but i probably think it is. so now im sticking to my old brand. i hope i dont develop immunity to it because i wouldnt know what to do if ever it happens.
