The pill, designed give women an boost in the bedroom, differs from the male equivalent. For one it must be taken daily, and another, it works to increase desire and not performance. The drug works by increasing dopamine levels and is not a hormonal drug. It’s now in Phase 3 trials and has been submitted to the FDA for approval, a process that usually takes about nine months.

Female Viagra Clinical Trails

If successful, the drug could become the first to treat the lack of the sexual desire known as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder. According to Barry Lubin, an internist and medical director of National Clinical Research, HSDD is the prevalent of four disorders – the others are arousal disorder, orgasmic disorder and pain.

“There are blurry lines, but for a diagnosis of HSDD, loss of desire is primary,” he says.

In order to qualify for the trail women must report a decreased sexual desire that is not associated with any other factors including personal distress, marital problems, illness, medication use, substance abuse or other psychosocial factors.

The subjects must also be concerned about their diminished interest. “What makes it a disorder is the distress,” says Lubin.

He reports that several studies have been done on the condition, and that probably 90 percent of those affected, particularly pre-menopausal women, have not had gynecological surgery. “They’re pretty darn healthy,” he says.

Lubin estimates that approximately 10 percent of women — of all ages — suffer from the disorder.

“Doctors do a poor job of asking people about their sex lives. It’s not part of the review of systems by primary care doctors. They don’t go down that road. Women and doctors are inhibited. And there are currently no drugs available.”

Though in some cases it’s possible to find physiological explanations, that’s far from the case with most. “We can come up with theories, with fabrications,” says Lubin, who is trying to educate other doctors about the disorder.

South-east Asia is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations for patients seeking first class medical tourism, and when considering quality and cost of elective surgeries abroad, Thailand or Malaysia turn out to be many people’s first choice.

Speaking out about her cosmetic surgery holiday, 18 year-old Ambah Young, said she had borrowed money from a friend to undergo a tummy-tuck, a boob-job and the ‘designer’ vagina procedure during a two week trip to Malaysia.

“After the birth of my daughter, my body never went back to the way it was before,”

“I’m having this surgery so that I can feel my age again,” she said.

Ms Young explained that exercise had not given her the results she was looking for, and hoped that surgery would make her feel better and more confident.

Louise Cogan, director of Melbourne-based travel agents Gorgeous Getaways, said that while most medical tourism patients were aged 30 – 60, she was aware that people as young as 18 were traveling abroad for cosmetic procedures. Mrs Cogan said.

“I’ve seen Ambah’s photos and she really is a very suitable candidate for surgery because she has an overhanging tummy…

“The only way she can actually improve is through surgery. She can’t diet, she can’t exercise because her skin is very saggy.”

However, Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery has raised concerns about the appropriateness of such procedures on someone so young along with the added risks of having them done overseas. Chief executive John Flynn said 18 was very young for somebody to consider those procedures:

“She’s probably quite vulnerable in many ways and I think the medical service owes her a duty of care to make sure that the procedures she’s planning to be done are appropriate and there’s a big question mark over that,”

Nevertheless, around 400 Australians travel to Malaysia through Gorgeous Getaways each year, with 80 per cent having two or more procedures done, and with the first class quality medical care and prices affordable enough to have multiple surgeries, it’s not really surprising. Mrs Cogan added:

“They’ll either have the combination of facelift and breast, or facelift and tummy tuck and almost everyone has a little bit of liposuction.”

Including flights and accommodation, cosmetic procedures cost can be about half what they did in Australia, she said.

I have e-mails, web history from Google analytics to substantiate my claims and am personally available to talk by phone with qualified business owners considering 800Hosting who reads this post and seeks verification.

At the end of November 2009, all our web sites went down. My staff from Asia and the US were all in San Francisco for a meeting and company outing. Since I was the only person working I was checking our sites on a Sunday night. I was shocked to discover all were down. I had to notify 800 hosting they had no idea, and never provided monitoring. Previous issues as well, required us to first notify 800Hosting!

No Monitoring

We purchased monitoring 24/7. If they were providing that monitoring how could our sites all go down and they not know?

In their dealings with me and my company 800Hosting continually over promised and undelivered. This aforementioned monitoring is but one example.

Based on their website homepage we really believed we had found the solution for our hosting. We checked and they were well reviewed too. You obviously were impressed or you would not be reading my post. In my experience there is no relationship between their home page claims and the service they deliver.

No Managed Hosting

With the managed hosting, what we asked for SPECIFICALLY we were assured the health of the server would be maintained and monitored and we would be secure from malicious attacks.

However once the server went down, we had to notify them. They never notified us of any problem and often erroneously reported all was well when it was NOT!

Then they suggested maybe we were the victim of an attack by a competitor until they realized protecting us from that was also their job. Another exaggeration or lie.

During the aforementioned 6 days they repeatedly called or e-mailed us that everything is now fixed.

No Communication

When we would discover nothing was fixed and we were still down you will not believe what occurred. They disabled our E-mails claiming we were sending “too many”. Their excuse for that insensitive and bad behavior was we already know you are down and that and it wastes time to respond to your e-mails that could be spent fixing the problem. What were we to do? They called and said everything is OK BUT it was not. If we said nothing maybe it would never be repaired BUT when we attempted to tell them that nothing had changed our E-mails were returned. By this time we realized we had been had and were dealing with incompetents or people who at best were very careless with the truth. We had to contact them by phone, and when the tech answered they noticed it was down and question if we even had a website hosted at the domain that existed for 14 years.

No Backups

As soon as we noticed data was missing we requested back-ups. We were told they were already restored, but “this could not be verified until the server was back online”. I do not know why but at that time we still bought that. Wishful thinking I guess. However once we had FTP restored and we were able to view or site to compare files, we realized MOST of our images were gone and a lot of additional files were missing as well. 800Hosting had no complete copy of our websites and had NO idea what they lost! It seemed as if they thought they could mislead us to believe everything was ok when it obviously was not!

We had bought daily back up BUT when it came time for them to deliver our backed up data they finally said we only keep data three days! We realized however it occurred the missing data was gone forever and there were no back-ups. We lost secure customer data that is unrecoverable and cause a serious strain to our companies.

Four months later we are still replacing missing images and apologizing to customers for missing data that they must resend.

No Explanation

We were NEVER given an explanation as to EXACTLY what happened even though we said repeatedly that was a prerequisite to continue using 800Hosting. We said we need to know how it happened and what steps have you taken so it will not happen again. They said your request perfectly understandable and all promised to do that BUT never did so!

I asked our tech please tell me what we have to buy from you to be safe? They took days to work up a proposal which was unacceptable but what I remember was that when we finally talked on the phone their head tech asked, “How much down time can you afford?” Can you believe that?

I told 800Hosting IF I was making my original decision to use 800Hosting for all my businesses someone had told me one of the choices I had to make was how much downtime I could afford; obviously I would have gone elsewhere immediately.

Has anyone asked you that question yet?

No Character

FINAL blow for me was the owner refused to come to the phone to explain, apologize or tell me to go to hell. NOTHING from him. From my dealings with all at 800Hosting I believe it is fair to say they are an organization with NO CHARACTER and never did they seem embarrassed by their poor performance – NEVER! You know sometimes when something like this happens someone from the offending company will acknowledge the error BUT that did not happen at 800Hosting. They all seemed comfortable telling me that is the way it is. I guess it is their policy and they are following their leader. They did issue a free memory upgrade retail value $10-$15 USD WOW!

I realize this is my side of the story and there are always other sides BUT I left 800Hosting and I am still in business. My independent web monitoring service now rates my sites performance much higher since leaving than when they were hosted at 800Hosting. I do not know exactly what that means BUT I suspect it is another reflection on 800Hosting’s competence to do their job. We have changed nothing but our host and have already seen a drastic improvement! I am not a technical guy so all I can say is the facts are correct.

Michelle Cramer, a graphics illustrator in Williamsburg, Va., suffered about 15 migraines a month for almost a decade, until she underwent surgery to disarm the nerves responsible for her frequent headaches.

“I get maybe two migraines a year now,” she said.

Using surgery to correct migraine is a relatively new idea. Dr. Richard Lipton, director of the Montefiore Headache Center in New York City, who was not involved in the new study, said:

“The theory here is that there are sites outside the brain in the face and back of the head that can trigger migraines and, if you surgically remove the migraine trigger, the migraine will improve and there’s certainly a precedent for the idea,”

According to the article, approx 30 million Americans suffer from migraines, a large number of them being women.

The study involved 75 patients with moderate to severe migraine headaches. Once the migraine trigger sites in the forehead, cheek and back of the head/neck had been identified, doctors injected Botox to these areas to see if they could be disarmed.

If the trigger sites responded to the Botox, then the patients underwent surgery to remove the trigger areas.

Forty-nine patients were randomized to receive “real” surgery and 26 to “sham” surgery. The surgeries differed depending on the trigger points. Dr. Bahman Guyuron, lead author of the study and professor and chairman of the department of plastic surgery at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, explained:

“For the patients with forehead headaches, we removed the frowning muscles. That’s why they look better, more cheerful…

“Those with temple headaches underwent an operation on a small nerve, which also lifted their eyebrows…

“And, for those with a back-of-the-head trigger, [we] replaced a small amount of muscle around the occipital nerve with fatty tissue to shield the nerve from being squeezed by the muscle.”

After one year, nearly 84 percent of patients receiving actual surgery reported a 50% reduction in migraines, while more than 57 percent said that their migraines had completely disappeared, 57.7% and 3.8 %, respectively, in the sham group.

Some patients did experience temporary numbness in parts of the face, said Guyuron, but it usually went away.

“One thing that’s impressive is the migraine-free rates,” Lipton said. “The other thing that was impressive is they did a year of follow-up. Usually, everything is placebo-responsive but those responses are usually short-lived. A year is really impressive.”

Guyuron believes the procedure, which he has already performed on more than 400 individuals, could benefit a wide range of migraine sufferers:

“It really is not invasive surgery. It takes about an hour to do the operation for each trigger site, three-and-a-half hours is the maximum…

“They go home right after the surgery and go back to work within a week.”

But Lipton wants to see another study, and feels surgery should be reserved for the most intractable cases.

“This is obviously not for everyone. This is for people who are really suffering, who’ve had adequate trials of medical therapy and who have an identifiable trigger point and get better following a Botox injection…

“There are a lot of hurdles someone would have to jump over before I would send them for surgery.”

During the festival, locals lay out a lavish spread that the town’s 2,000 macaque residents are freely allowed to feast for the weekend.

The monkeys have become one of the towns major tourist attractions and the locals repay the monkeys by hold the annual banquet in their honor. Some also believe that providing food for the monkeys brings good fortune and prosperity to the people.

Generally localized to temple of Pra Prang Sam Yot, the monkeys are free to roam wherever they please. The temple does however have bars around certain areas to allow for a monkey-free experience.

During the festival, around twenty of the best Thai cooks in the country gather and prepare a banquet, consisting of two tons of sausages, fresh fruit, fruit, vegetables, ice cream, jam and milk. The banquet is then left out over the weekend for the monkeys to feast upon.

The annual festival takes place on the last weekend in November. The festival is centered around the Pra Prang Sam Yot temple. Entrance is 30 baht and you will be given a stick to fend of inquisitive monkeys.

Festivities include a monkey ‘tea party’ where macaques tuck into a spread of fruit, eggs, cucumbers and bananas all prepared in their honor.

History

The legend has it that once there was a rain god named Vassakan who loved to be worshipped with fire. The townspeople created a rocket or ‘Bang Fai’ to send to heaven, where the god resided. They believed that the god would hear their entreaties and bless them with plentiful rain for rice cultivation. So the celebration is entirely to the god of rain.

Scholars study the centuries old rocket festival tradition today as it may be significant to the history of rocketry in the East, and perhaps also significant in the postcolonial socio-political development of the Southeast Asian nation states. Economically, villages and sponsors bear the costs in many locations in Laos and in northern Isan (Northeast Thailand). The festivals typically begin at the beginning of the Rainy Season, in the sixth or seventh lunar months.

These festivals are presumed to have evolved from pre-Buddhist fertility rites held to celebrate and encourage the coming of the rains, from before the 9th Century discovery of black powder. It may also be said that Lao culture is not lacking in earthy, bawdy themes, with rockets festivals the most sexually oriented and bawdy of the lot. Coming immediately prior to the planting season, the festivals offer an excellent chance to make merry before the hard work begins; as well as enhancing communal prestige, and attracting and redistributing wealth as in any Gift culture.

Anthropology Professor Charles F. Keyes advises,

“In recognition of the deep-seated meaning of certain traditions for the peoples of the societies of mainland Southeast Asia, the rulers of these societies have incorporated some indigenous symbols into the national cultures that they have worked to construct in the postcolonial period. Giving the “Bun Bang Fai or fire rocket festival of Laos” as one example, he adds that it remains “,far more elaborate in the villages than in the cities,.”

Like several other Thai festivals, Buddhist monks would be in attendance for the ceremony. The rockets, launch platforms and other decorations for this event are prepared for several weeks before the actual event. An average rocket is some nine metres in length and carries 20-25 kilograms of gunpowder.

Bang Fai Rockets

Jaruat is the proper term for rockets used as missiles or weapons, but Bang Fai skyrockets are gigantic black-powder bottle rockets. Tiny Bottle rockets are so called because they may be launched from a bottle. In the case of the similar appearing Bang Fai, also spelled ‘Bong Fai’, the ‘bottle’ is a bong, a section of bamboo Culm used as a container or pipe (and only colloquially as a pipe for smoking marijuana.)

Originally the rockets were made out of natural materials, but these days, they are slightly more sophisticated. Rockets are packed with several kilos of gunpowder instead. In order to make the rocket festival much more fun, various competitions for the biggest and highest flying rocket are held, all conducted with the undying Thai spirit of ‘sanook’.

Related to the Chinese Fire Arrow, Bang Fai are made from bamboo bongs. Most contemporary ones, however, are enclosed in pvc piping, making them less dangerous by standardizing their sizes and black powder charges (which contest rules require be compounded by the rocketeers, themselves). Baking or boiling a bong kills insect eggs that otherwise hatch in dead bamboo and eat it, inside out. Skipping this step may cause the bong to disintegrate and melt the pvc piping. Vines tie long bamboo tails to launching racks. The time it takes for the exhaust to burn through the vines (usually) allows a motor to build up to full thrust; then the tails impart in-flight stability. Ignition comes from a burning fuse or electric match.

Bang Fai come in various sizes, competing in several categories. Small ones are called Bang Fai Noi. Larger categories are designated by the counting words for 10,000, 100,000 and 1,000,000: Meun “Saen” and the largest Bang Fai, the Lan. These counting words see use in many contexts to indicate increasing size or value. Lan in this context may be taken to mean extremely large as well as extremely expensive and extremely dangerous: Bang Fai Lan are nine metres long and charged with 120 kg of black powder. These may reach altitudes reckoned in kilometers, and travel dozens of kilometers down range (loosely speaking, as they can go in any direction, including right through the crowd). Competing rockets are scored for apparent height, distance, and beauty of the vapor trail. A few include skyrocket pyrotechnics. A few also include parachutes for tail assemblies, but most fall where they may.

Yasothon Rocket Festival

Since the March 1, 1972, separation of Yasothon from Ubon Ratchathani Province, with its world-famous Candle Festival, Yasothon’s provincial capital has elaborately staged its now world-famous Rocket Festival annually over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday weekend that falls in the middle of May.

On the festival day, rockets are paraded to the launch site. Villagers dress in colorful traditional costumes, playing, teasing and dancing, to accompany the procession.

The climax of the festival is the launch time. The rockets are fired from their launch platforms one by one. Noisy folk music and cheers can be heard for each liftoff. The rocket that reaches the greatest height is declared the winner. The owner of this rocket dances and pushes for rewards from the crowds. The owners of rockets that exploded or failed to fly are thrown in the mud.

Whether or not their wishes are granted as they believe, the festival helps strengthen and promote harmony among the villagers, which will be needed when the new crop season begins.

The Karen are often refered to as the “long-neck” or “giraffe” tribes. However it is only women in a sub-group of Karen, known as the Padaung, who wear the brass rings. Several Padaung villages that serve as a tourist attraction for thousands of visitors from around the globe, have been constructed in the Mae Hong Song province of Northern Thailand.

For the price of 250 baht (around 7 dollars), tourists can visit one of these long neck tribes. The idea of witnessing first hand what a real tribal village is like is a great lure for many travelers, but being able to see the famous long neck tribes is what really brings in the crowds. Although the opportunity to visit the Padaung tribes may seem like a perfect trip during a stay in Thailand, many tourists have labeled the villages ‘human zoo’s’.

ZEMBER, who at aged 12 had become a poster child for long-neck tourism, has now taken her rings off in protest, after provincial authorities in Mae Hong Son, refused to let her emigrate to New Zealand.

“When I was young, I wanted to wear the rings and keep my own tradition. In one way, I feel sad (that I’ve taken them off) but now I go to the city, no one cares, no one stares…
“The people who control us say if the people see us in the town, they won’t pay to see us (in the village).”

After being interviewed in November 2005, Zember received the news on 2006 that she would be able to join her friends in New Zealand. But as Zember’s case dragged on, authorities ruled in 2007 that Section 19, Zember’s home area, was no longer part of the resettlement plan. Even though Zember had been due to leave in 2006, the new ruling meant she had missed her chance.

It was then that Zember decided to remove her rings.

“[So] I took my rings off. I love my culture, but it is our tradition which has made me a prisoner.”

The Padaung custom prescribes that girls begin to wear augmented coils that weight as mush as 11 pounds, before puberty. The number of coils on the rings are then increase gradually with age.

There are several accounts of why the Padaung practice this custom. Their own mythology tells how the coils will protect them from the bite of a tiger. Others speculate that it is done to to make the women unattractive so they are less likely to be captured by slave traders. However the most common explanation, is the opposite of this – that an extra-long neck is considered a sign of great beauty and wealth and that it will attract a better husband.

Many people believe that the coils force the chin upward while pressing down the collar bones and ribs, elongating the neck. However chiropractor or orthopedic surgeon will tell you that this would lead to paralysis or even death. In fact, the stretching of the neck is actually an illusion.

The rings do not cause the vertebrae to elongate, instead the weight of the rings pushes down the collar bone, as well as the upper ribs, to such an angle that the collar bone appears to be a part of the neck.

Traditionally, it was only the Padaung girls born on a Wednesday of a full moon who were destined to wear the coils, but now other youngsters are enlisted to meet the tourist demand.

Initial discomfort is reported after the coils are set, however they seem to pose no problem in later life. Experts assumed that removing the coils would lead to suffocation and death, because the neck muscles would not be strong enough to support the head. But as Zember has proved, the rings can be removed without serious consequences.

Scientists at the Tel Aviv University have already successfully carried out clinical trials using the high-tech laser beam to heal surgical incisions.

“The technique of sewing the human body with needle and thread is an old one that has existed for thousand of years,” said Prof. Abraham Katzir.

The new method leaves less scarring than traditional stitches and also reduces the risk of infection.

“Sutures or stitches are not watertight, and blood or urine can pass through cuts, causing severe infection,” Katzir explained.

The concept of laser skin welding is not a new one. The first lasers developed to heal surgical wounds were proposed decades ago, however these earlier prototypes burned the skin and the tests were abandoned.

Katzir’s new technique avoids that problem by utilizing a smart laser that corrects its temperature as it works. The laser heats up a special biological glue smeared on the sides of the incision. When the glue heats up to the correct temperature, the glue thickens and creates a hard shell that protects the wound and allows it it heal.

Researchers new believe that laser skin welding could be used by paramedic crews to heal wounds at the scene of accidents. It could also offer great benefits for plastic surgery techniques and battlefield wounds.

“It could allow soldiers to heal each other on contact with a laser wand,” Katzir added.

The three men, Alonzo Bland, 33, and brothers Walt, 56, and David Anderson, 50, moved to the northern Chinese city of Tianjin in the middle of this year after winning a contest promoting traditional Chinese medicine, from the U.S. company China Connection.

The strict regime includes acupuncture in their hotel bedrooms at the Aimin Fat Reduction Hospital, a typical Chinese diet of rice, tofu, meat, vegetables and soup, as well as regular exercise.

Doctors say that acupuncture helps to increase metabolism rate and also reduces the appetite. Exercise helps to burn off the bodies fat reserves and the healthy diet ensures the patient consumes all the necessary nutrients during the program.

Since his arrival Bland has lost 227 lbs, dropping from 641 lbs to 414 lbs. Bland, who had a tracheotomy in 2000 because the fat in his face was putting too much pressure on his windpipe, said:

“The reason why I think it works here is that China is away from everything, all the stuff that I’m familiar with.”

David Anderson told reporters how he could not walk 20 feet without stopping to catch his breath. He now weighs 229 lbs after loosing 90 lbs.

His brother Walt, has lost 106 lbs and now weighs 394 lbs.

There appears to be two versions of the prototype walking assistant, one (pictured above) sports a waist harness with lower back support and two mechanical thighs that strap around the back of the upper leg.
The other (pictured below) sports a u-shaped saddle, and a pair of shoes attached to jointed mechanical legs.

The device was unveiled at Barrier Free 2008 trade show in Osaka in April last year, and although there is no word when the device will hit the public, Honda have been to testing prototypes on workers in its Saitama car factory.
